Metallica are producing a documentary with the Universal Music Group-powered Mercury Studios, and the band has put out a casting call for Metallica "superfans" to appear in the film.
The filmmakers invite "big personalities, unique characters and unexpected stories from Metallica fans who consider Metallica to be their favourite band, real 'Fifth Member' types. All stories and walks of life are welcome and encouraged to reach out."
This follows Metallica's return to the top of both iTunes Rock Chart and the Spotify Top 50 with their 1986 song "Master of Puppets" after it appeared on Stranger Things.
"I'm just so happy that hard music and hard rock still has a place," Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich said in an interview with Japan's TVK. "To see so many young people connecting with music again... I can see, in the last nine months, the Stranger Things phenomenon of so many young kids discovering 'Master of Puppets' and that being a gateway to maybe more Metallica music or to more heavy music or heavy rock music."
No more details have been shared as of yet about the upcoming documentary, but in the meantime, you can catch them on tour in Montreal on August 11 and 13.
