After a familial connection between Metallica and Stranger Things was revealed earlier this week, the band have come forward to sing the praises of the show, its creators and (spoiler) the inclusion of their mammoth 1986 Master of Puppets title track.

If you're not caught up on Stranger Things 4, stop reading here: in the final moments of the season, Eddie Munson (Joseph Quinn) rips through the band's "Master of Puppets" to lure a flock of demobats away from the Creel house so Steve, Nancy and Robin can give Vecna a good smackdown. Eddie's solo rips extremely hard, making the musical moment nearly as synonymous with the show as "Running Up That Hill" has become in recent weeks.

"The way the Duffer Brothers have incorporated music into Stranger Things has always been next level," Metallica wrote in an Instagram post, "so we were beyond psyched for them to not only include 'Master of Puppets' in the show, but to have such a pivotal scene built around it."

They added:

We were all stoked to see the final result and when we did we were totally blown away... it's so extremely well done, so much so, that some folks were able to guess the song just by seeing a few seconds of Joseph Quinn's hands in the trailer!! How crazy cool is that? It's an incredible honour to be such a big part of Eddie's journey and to once again be keeping company with all of the other amazing artists featured in the show.

The actual track was recorded by Tye Trujillo — the 17-year-old son of Metallica bassist, Robert Trujillo. On Sunday, the elder Trujillo shouted out the series, writing, "That's my boy! Proud of ya Tye!" in a separate post.

Revisit the epic guitar battle and see the band's shout-out below.
