The highly anticipated new TV adaptation of Stephen King's The Stand is coming up fast, but we have some bad news for you. The show will no longer be featuring Marilyn Manson.
Despite news emerging last year that the shock rocker would be appearing in the series, director Josh Boone has now revealed Manson's role was eventually cut.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Boon said: "Just to clarify, Marilyn Manson and I had long-discussed him taking on the role of the Kid in The Stand. He and the great Shooter Jennings even recorded a killer cover of the Doors' song 'The End' that ultimately proved too expensive to use. The show was made on a very tight budget and some of the dreams we had went to the wayside. The Kid was another casualty."
He added: "When Manson wasn't able to make it work schedule-wise, the storyline was ultimately excised and never shot, which is for the best, as no one could have slayed that role like Manson would have. Hope to work with him in the future."
So there you have it — The Stand is officially Manson-less.
On the bright side, the show for CBS All Access will still star James Marsden, Amber Heard, Greg Kinnear, Odessa Young, Henry Zaga, Whoopi Goldberg, Jovan Adepo, Owen Teague, Brad William Henke, Daniel Sunjata, Alexander Skarsgård, Nat Wolff, Eion Bailey, Katherine McNamara, Hamish Linklater and Heather Graham.
As previously reported, The Stand will premiere on December 17. You can revisit the show's trailer below.
