Man Man Return with 'On Oni Pond,' Premiere New Video

Earlier this year, Man Man revealed that they had plans to issue a new album this summer, and the act have now announced they'll do just that when they deliver their On Oni Pond LP on September 10 via Anti- Records.

As previously reported, the songs that appear on the record, which follows 2011's Life Fantastic, began to take shape last summer during writing sessions between frontman Honus Honus and drummer Pow Wow. According to a press release, the latter's increased involvement in the process have brought "an exhilarating array of new rhythmic ideas to the mix."

"With this album we got to do something that very few bands or creative people get to do which is a reboot, and one that feels natural," Honus Honus said in a statement.

The songs were later worked on by the full band and producer Mike Mogis (Bright Eyes), and are said to encapsulate a number of styles, from hip-hop and soul to psychedelia and '50s rock'n'roll. "King Shiv" apparently homes in on "new wave dub," while the group's familiar syncopated drum pound apparently figures into "Pink Wonton."

Before the album arrives in full, you can check out the retro-rocking, symphony strings-assisted slow-dance single "Head On" in a horror movie-themed new video, which you can find below.

"This is a strange and beautiful record but it's also head on and fearless," Honus Honus said. "It's not a record that's going to flirt with you, this is a record that's asking you out. If you get into bed with us there's going to be a relationship."
