Despite Kodak Black shaking things up earlier this month, the National Hockey League will skate in a different direction when it comes to entertainment at this year's All-Star Game, enlisting Machine Gun Kelly to perform at the event.
Today, the NHL announced that the punky, pop rap provocateur will Lace Up during the second intermission to headline the event, taking place next Saturday (February 5) at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Kelly follows his puck-loving pop-punk forefathers Green Day, Bebe Rexha, Kid Rock, and Sugarland's Jennifer Nettles as NHL All-Star intermission performers, and his appearance is clearly a move towards a younger audience by the league.
While his engagement outfit had him looking ready to drop the puck and referee, MGK has been known to appreciate the style of sport in years past. In the midst of his 2018 beef with Eminem, he was gifted a custom "Rap D3vil" hockey jersey — number 666 — to sport during a performance at the Prudential Centre in Newark, NJ, home of the NHL's New Jersey Devils.

If MGK is in need of a hype man for the occasion, we recommend golden-voiced Ottawa Senators forward Brady Tkachuk. The 66th NHL All-Star Game takes place February 5 at 3 p.m. ET.
