The track is born out of an instrumental from this year's 'jams EP'

Toronto-based indie-pop artist Luna Li — a.k.a Hannah Kim — has released a new single titled "Flower (In Full Bloom)." The song features rising star Serena Isioma and builds off Kim's dreamy 60-second instrumental, "flower," which arrived alongside her jams EP back in February.

The brief instrumental lingered for the artist. "I really liked the feel of it so I decided to expand it into a full song," Kim explained in a statement. "It blossomed into one of my favourite songs I've written."

She noted that "Flower (In Full Bloom)" centres on the potential for manipulation in relationships spoke further on Isioma's influence on the song's development:

It's about a relationship where the other person is there for the wrong reasons, to gain power and to use you to their advantage, rather than for love or caring. Serena (whose viral hit song "Sensitive" is now sitting on a whopping 54 million streams) came in and brought the song to a whole new level with their incredible verse and I feel so lucky to have had them sing on it!

The track joins the body of work that will become Luna Li's first full-length album, along with "Alone but Not Lonely," which was released in May. The details surrounding dream-popster's upcoming album remain a mystery, but 2022 might just be the year. So stay tuned for more on Luna Li — possibly quite soon.

In the meantime, Luna Li will continue touring North America in support of Japanese Breakfast.
