Mica Levi is already incredibly difficult to pin down — minimalist art-pop sculptor, eerie film soundtrack master, noise-rock provocateur — and today, they add another wrinkle with new 12-minute single "slob air," which marks their debut release for legendary electronic label Hyperdub.
The airy, wordless dream-pop sweep of "slob air" is new for Levi and kinda new for Hyperdub; it doesn't sound much like the label's usual fare. It comes attached to a video starring a skateboarding Madi Swain, made with Izzy Moriarty Thompson, Joe Auborn and Jack Parton.
Levi's most recent work was the soundtrack to Jonathan Glazer's The Zone of Interest. Their last studio albums were 2020's Ruff Dog and 2021's Blue Alibi, a pair of grungy, confrontational excursions. Last year, they teamed up with Alpha Maid on the Spresso EP.
