Lil Nas X Covers Dolly Parton's "Jolene" in the BBC Live Lounge

Don't even think about taking his man

Fresh off the birth of his firstborn debut album MONTERO, Lil Nas X has taken the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge series by storm with a cover of country classic "Jolene" by Dolly Parton.

We knew this day was coming. Obviously, the rapper had collaborated with Billy Ray Cyrus on his breakout smash "Old Town Road," and recently featured Miley Cyrus on album-closer "AM I DREAMING," so it's only natural that Lil Nas X would bring the queen herself — Moderna hero (and Miley's godmother) Parton — into the mix.

Singing into a rhinestone-encrusted mic in his straight-shooting baritone, the artist delivers the iconic 1973 hit over a sparse rock arrangement. His eyes pour into the camera with smouldering intensity as he performs surrounded by flowers.

The serious, almost sinister tone of this cover is just further proof of LNX's immense versatility as a performer.

Watch the brooding performance below.

In the lead-up to the highly anticipated release of MONTERO, Lil Nax X trolled America with billboards. Thanks to the gay agenda, he'll also be joining the revival of The Proud Family.
