Lil Nas X took home the coveted Video of the Year award at this year's MTV VMAs for his controversial "MONTERO (Call Me by Your Name)" visual, and in fittingly iconic and conservative-peeving fashion, thanked the gay agenda in his acceptance speech.

"First I want to say thank you to the gay agenda!" the pop star said on accepting his Moon Person. "Let's go, gay agenda!"

He went on to thank his team before adding: "I love you guys so much, I do not take this for granted."

"MONTERO (Call Me by Your Name)" beat out videos by Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion ("WAP"), DJ Khaled and Drake ("Popstar," starring Justin Bieber), Doja Cat and SZA ("Kiss Me More"), Ed Sheeran ("Bad Habits") and the Weeknd ("Save Your Tears").

Earlier in the evening, Lil Nas performed "Industry Baby" with Jack Harlow, plus a snippet of the award-winning "MONTERO." He also won Best Direction for "MONTERO," which he co-directed with Tanu Muino.
