Lil Andy and the Ideal Lovers

Where else but Montreal would a porn theatre be packed with hundreds of people at one-thirty in the morning on a weeknight to hear Neil Young’s Tonight’s the Night performed in its entirety? Even Montrealers were shocked, however, because Lil Andy has never filled a room this size playing his own material. Right from the opening notes, the atmosphere was electric, and Andy and his Ideal Lovers delivered, especially when pedal steel player Joe Grass assumed lead vocal duties for the falsetto numbers that were out of Andy’s range. Pop Montreal is known for one-of-a-kind moments; this was one of them.
