A few weeks ago, Exclaim! published a list of songs with iconically Toronto-themed lyrics. Actor-musician Kiefer Sutherland has now made his own contribution to the canon of YYZ anthems, as he just released a video for the new single "Bloor Street." That's the title track from his upcoming album, due out January 21 on Pheromone Recordings.
The song is a twangy country rock tune all about Toronto, as Sutherland name drops street names and sings about how the city will always be home. The accompanying video combines footage of Sutherland singing the song in-studio with some childhood photos and retro footage of Toronto.
He said in a statement, "They say you can never go home. This song, for me, says in your heart you never leave."
As for the Bloor Street album, it was recording a PLYRZ Studios in Los Angeles with producer Chris Lord-Alge. Pre-order and pre-save links can be found here.
Bloor Street:
1. Bloor Street
2. Going Down
3. Two Stepping in Time
4. So Full of Love
5. County Jail Gate
6. Goodbye
7. Lean into Me
8. Chasing the Rain
9. Nothing Left to Say
10. Set Me Free
11. Down the Line
