Kermit the Frog was one of the unexpected reveals on last night's season premiere of The Masked Singer.
The Muppet, who performed "You Make My Dreams" by Hall & Oates, was revealed to be the singer inside the snail costume — and not Billy Crystal or Jimmy Kimmel like the judges had guessed.
Unfortunately for Kermie, he was also the first contestant kicked off the episode, but he took the elimination in stride.
"I was disappointed," Kermit told PEOPLE. "However, I did set the record for 'longest-lasting celebrity frog in a snail costume' in the entire history of Masked Singer. So, I'll always have that."
He also explained the hilariously dark inspiration behind his snail costume: "I picked a snail because snails and frogs have a lot in common; we're both menu items at French restaurants. As for eating the costume, I wasn't tempted. The only Muppet who eats his wardrobe is Animal."
