After finding himself among the FBI's most wanted for his connection to the January 6 Capitol riots, disgraced Iced Earth guitarist Jon Schaffer made bail in April. Now, court statements from his attorney have surfaced, showing his time behind bars was anything but peaceful.

"My client, who is presumed innocent, has just gone through two months of hell where other people were throwing feces at him and urine at him and threatening his life in a horrible, horrible situation," Schaffer's attorney Marc J. Victor told a federal judge, according to documents obtained by IndyStar [via Loudwire].

Schaffer was "in fear for his personal safety" during his 89 days behind bars, claiming he had been the target of three inmates, who made threats against his life. Marion County Jail incident reports obtained by IndyStar reveal Schaffer was kept in "Administrative Segregation" for his safety.

A spokesperson for the Marion County Sherriff's Office said Schaffer had no contact with other inmates and that he remained in segregation during the entirety of his stay. The spokesperson declined to speak further on Schaffer's allegations that he had been assaulted with excrement.

As previously reported, Schaffer pleaded guilty to two charges: obstruction of an official proceeding of Congress and trespassing on restricted grounds of the Capitol while armed with a deadly or dangerous weapon.

He is currently awaiting sentencing and could face up to 30 years in prison. Schaffer's attorney is hoping to convince Judge Amit Mehta to give Schaffer 3.5 to 4.5 years. His sentencing date has not been made public.
