Jack White Uses His 2003 Mugshot as Instagram Profile Picture

It comes from his arrest for assaulting Jason Stollsteimer of the Von Bondies

Jack White has gone from a smartphone naysayer to a surprisingly active Instagram user who posts nearly every day. Followers may have noticed that White just updated his profile photo on the social media app — and eagle-eyed fans might recognize the photo as his 2003 mugshot.

The photo comes from White's December 2003 arrest, when he was charged with aggravated assault after a fight with Jason Stollsteimer of fellow Detroit garage rockers the Von Bondies. White pleaded guilty to assault and battery; he was fined and made to take anger management classes.

It's not clear why White is now using the photo on Instagram. At the beginning of 2024, he changed his profile photo to an abstract blue image and shared a clip of bluesy riffs, seemingly hinting at an upcoming release, but he subsequently deleted that post.

White recently hailed Big Sugar's 500 Pounds as "the best blues-based record ever to come out of Canada."
