Does Jack White have a cellphone? The plot thickens! Back in April, the prolific musician discussed the pandemic-era difficulties of not having a cellphone and mentioned that he would likely have to get one soon. Well, it seems like he might have finally gotten one, since he just made a passing reference to using an iPhone to stream music.

This tidbit came in the middle of a 54-minute interview with Canadian journalist Tom Power for CBC's q. White said that, even though he famously champions vinyl and analogue recording techniques, he isn't actually a retro purist.

He said, "I think that's what people have misunderstood about me: that I hate digital or any modern technology. Absolutely not. Half of the effects I use on my guitar are digital. I listen to music through an iPhone and through an iPad, constantly digital streaming all day long. Those things are all great and useful tools, you know? I think that all should be used to advantages for artists."

Speaking of digital technology, White's excellent recent album Fear of the Dawn is heavily computerized. Read our review here. The more acoustic-minded Entering Heaven Alive is out on July 22. White will be touring this summer, and cellphones won't be allowed at any of the shows.
