Iggy and the Stooges Pay Tribute to Ron Asheton with Live DVD

BY Alex HudsonPublished Mar 1, 2013

A couple of years after the 2009 death of rock pioneer Ron Asheton, Iggy & the Stooges staged a tribute show for their onetime guitarist. On June 4, that 2011 concert will get a DVD release when A Tribute to Ron Asheton arrives through MVD Entertainment Group.

The show was spearheaded by Ron's sister Kathy and curated by Iggy Pop. It featured members and associates of the Stooges, along with guests Henry Rollins and Deniz Tek (Radio Birdman). The setlist included classic cuts like "I Wanna Be Your Dog," "Search and Destroy," and many more.

A Tribute to Ron Asheton additionally comes with interviews with fans, musicians and other famous figures. All profits from the DVD will go to the Ron Asheton Foundation, which benefits animal welfare and music.

The tracklist is below. Scroll past that to watch a short trailer for the DVD, and pre-order a copy here.
