The Holiday Crowd

"Sick Days" / "Born Under a Different Sign"

The Holiday Crowd began the year by releasing their Over the Bluffs EP back in January, and now the Toronto indie pop group are capping off 2012 with a 7-inch. It will come out on vinyl and digitally through New Romantic/Shelflife/Manimal Vinyl on November 20, and you can stream the new songs on Exclaim.ca.

The double A-sided single features the songs "Sick Days" and "Born Under a Different Sign," which both take stylistic cues from Over the Bluffs.

Singer Imran Haniff said in a statement, "We didn't want to put 'Sick Days' and 'Born Under a Different Sign' on the next album mainly because we stayed with the stripped-down approach we had with songs from Over the Bluffs. 'Sick Days', it's an evocation of some sort for poor old souls. A strive for perfection with the fear of the unknown. It's crazy. I'm a believer. 'Born Under a Different Sign' — independence, indifference and intolerance is what it's about."

An expanded CD edition of Over the Bluffs will be released on February 18 through Manimal. It will contain "Sick Days" and "Born Under a Different Sign."
