Back in September, Travis Scott sent gamers down a deep, dark FOMO wormhole when the rap superstar posted a photo of himself appearing to already have the insanely anticipated PlayStation 5. Now, though, we finally understand why.

Today Sony announced that the company has entered into an official partnership with Scott, who has joined PlayStation as a strategic creative partner.

As Sony puts it, "Through our mutual passion for gaming and creativity, we plan on collaborating with Travis and his Cactus Jack brand to produce innovative projects that we hope will delight our collective fans."

And while the company hasn't laid out any specific plans with Scott, Sony did go on to explain that Scott is a huge PlayStation fan. Plus, Sony shared a fancy new video teaser featuring Scott and his PS5.

"Travis' deep knowledge and fond memories about PlayStation as a brand, our products, and games will inspire his work with us from start to finish," Sony states. "He is an amazing creator, and we strive to work with the best creative minds inside and outside of our industry to continue to surprise the world in a way that only PlayStation can."

In a statement of his own, Scott had this to say:

I'm really looking forward to being able to showcase everything that Cactus Jack has worked on with Sony and the PlayStation team. Most importantly I'm excited to see how the PlayStation fans and family respond, and I look forward to running some games with everybody very soon!

To help kick things off, Travis Scott and Sony have shared a new PlayStation video, showing off some of the key people involved with the creation of the PS5. By the looks of things, the console will literally blow you away — or at least that's what happened in Scott's case.

Oh and if you were wondering whether it was a chair or pants, it was pants.

For those of us who are not Travis Scott, the PS5 arrives in North America on November 12, with the console then getting a worldwide release on November 19. Just yesterday (October 22), Sony revealed how the PS5 would work as a media hub.

Scott's PlayStation deal, of course, follows a similar partnership with McDonald's.
