Following a Pop Explosion tradition of booking louder acts in a church and not just quiet folk artists, the Handsome Furs filled St. Matt's with a fog machine, intense brightly coloured lights and sound. The duo's rock-oriented dance pop filled the space surprisingly well, Dan Boeckner's gruff vocals twisting around the space. To the right side of the stage, a huge crowd stood up dancing in between the pews in a cloud of neon fog, as the church hosted one of the danciest crowds of the festival. Nobody seemed to want the crazy church dance party to end, and by the encore, everyone in the venue was on their feet, clapping or dancing or head-nodding along to the Handsome Furs' infectious pop.
