It's the follow-up to the Toronto singer-songwriter's debut single

Toronto singer-songwriter Georgia Harmer — niece and labelmate of Sarah Harmer — has shared a new song called "Austin," the follow-up to her 2021 debut single "Headrush."

In a statement, Harmer described the bluesy, twangy song as being inspired by her father Gord Tough and her time on tour with Alessia Cara

Back in 2018, when I was on the road with Alessia Cara, we went to Austin, Texas, and my dad recommended we go to this barbecue spot he had been to when he was touring there. We went — it happened to be right around the corner from where we were staying — and had a day or two off to explore. I thought of my dad while I was there, and often when I was on the road, because I felt I was following in his footsteps.

That trip inspired the song by making me reflect on the bigger picture of our relationship. We're very similar, we have similar strengths and similar issues, and we're very close. I wrote this song to articulate the significance and importance of our relationship, how much I love and admire him, and our many parallels.
