Foo Fighters have given fans a little more insight into Concrete and Gold, revealing another special guest that appears on the upcoming LP.
In addition to the unexpected inclusion of Boyz II Men's Shawn Stockman, Dave Grohl and co. have roped in another face from a famous boyband — Paul McCartney.
In an interview with ET Canada, the Foos revealed that the former Beatle joined them in the studio to play drums on one track.
"Paul McCartney plays drums on one of our songs," Grohl said. "He's a pal. We've known him for a long. He's great. He's the most wonderful person in the world. He's a great guy."
Grohl and McCartney previously collaborated on "Cut Me Some Slack" from the former's Sound City - Real to Reel soundtrack.
Grohl wasn't the only drummer to heap praise on Macca, though. "He hadn't even heard of the song," usual Foos beatkeeper Taylor Hawkins added. "He comes in and Dave picked up an acoustic and showed him real quick. He sat on his special drum set that his tech set up for him. I sat there with a drumstick conducting. He did two takes."
Hawkins and McCartney's friendship is also well documented; the pair famously got shut out of Tyga's Grammy party last year, along with Album of the Year winner Beck.
Foo Fighters have been further teasing another surprise guest that appears on the new album. Grohl recently told BBC Radio 1: "There's one who is probably the biggest pop star in the world. He or she sings backup on one of the heaviest songs on the record. And we're not telling anybody who it is."
So far, the frontman has remained tight-lipped, though he has shot down suggestions that it's Adele or Taylor Swift.
"It was sort of towards the end of the album and this person came up and said, 'Man, I'd really love to sing on your record,'" Grohl told Rolling Stone. "I looked at [producer] Greg [Kurstin] and said, 'OK, come in tomorrow and we'll figure something out.' So we found a backup part for this person to sing and we decided we were gonna make it our own dirty little secret and see if anyone can figure it out."
