After returning from their eight-year recording hiatus late last year, Evanescence have delivered a music video for their cover of Fleetwood Mac's "The Chain."
The P.R. Brown-directed video arrives today as a part of Xbox's wildly popular Gears 5 from the Gears of War franchise.
"The goal of the video is to show the bond of this band as they deliver a powerful take on a classic song," said Brown in a statement. "The tie in with Gears 5 presented an opportunity to combine the game world together with the band performance in a post-apocalyptic setting. The band emerges from the ashes to come together. We wanted to bring these worlds together and feel both the force of the band and the game."
Frontwoman Amy Lee spoke further about the band's vision for the Fleetwood Mac cover in a statement.
"The lyrics make me feel the power of standing together against great forces trying to pull us apart, perhaps even from the inside," Lee said. "I really wanted to drive that home in our version."
The band have also announced plans for their fifth full-length record, which is set to roll out sometime later this year. So far, no other details have surfaced. Stay tuned as more information becomes available.
