After announcing his full support for Kayne West's presidential campaign earlier this week, Elon Musk is distancing himself from the controversial rapper now that he has learned more about his polarizing policies.
As previously reported, West's platform is rife with questionable views, including but not limited to his anti-abortion and anti-vax stances. It appears that Musk has since educated himself more thoroughly on West's platform, retracting his full support offered just days ago.
"We may have more differences of opinion than I anticipated," the tech billionaire wrote in a since-deleted tweet, which was captured by Twitter user John Crowley.
In a recent interview with Forbes, Kanye had revealed that Musk was to act as his adviser for the campaign. He also named Wyoming preacher Michelle Tidball as his running mate.
The rapper announced his run for president on July 4, despite joining the race too late to register in several states including Indiana, Maine, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina and Texas. In fact, it remains unclear if Kayne has actually filed to run in any state at all.
Back in 2015, the rapper implied that he would run in this year's American election, but changed his tune after striking up a friendship with President Donald Trump. The two are no longer pals, according to West.
