Earth Dreams, a rave-like free summer party about channelling our collective grief and love for the planet, is coming to the Bentway under the Gardiner in Toronto on July 8.

Presented by the Brooklyn-based artist studio Nocturnal Medicine, who have recently organized many climate-related parties and experiences in New York, the event is designed to instigate change by using our collective grief and joy to strengthen our connection and accountability to the earth and one another.

"On an individual and community level, we are helping people grapple with the painful truths of the climate and ecological crises, helping them reckon with and metabolize what is happening," a spokesperson from Nocturnal Medicine said in a statement. "Only by confronting the truth can you get to the other side of action, accountability, responsibility."

The event is a combination of meditation and dance, with poetry readings by Dr. Duke Redbird, Elder of the Saugeen Ojibway Nation, a sound bath and guided journey through the cultural and ecological history of the Bentway, and DJ dance sets by Tender Buttons and Me Time.

Sarah Barrable-Tishauer, aka Me Time, said about the collaboration: "Earth Dreams is a truly unique experience in that it honours the complexity of our current reality — the urgency of the climate crisis and the power of joy as activism to fuel change. This invitation to collaborate with Nocturnal Medicine came at a serendipitous time when I was exploring ways to elevate the dancefloor as 'more than a party'; drawing on its transformative power to simulate collective utopia.
