The long-in-the-works documentary about late INXS frontman Michael Hutchence is at last set for release.
The film will be called Mystify: Michael Hutchence and will air on BBC Two. It will feature both personal footage filmed by Hutchence and his former partner Kylie Minogue.
The doc is co-produced by Studio 54 and Searching for Sugar Man producer Passion Pictures. As previously reported, the film is being directed by friend and music video director Richard Lowenstein.
"I have been working on the definitive documentary film journey into the heart and soul of this complex, shy, poetic and exceptionally charismatic man for many years," Lowenstein previously said in a statement. "To be able to embark on this film now with such great partners as UMG, UK's Passion Pictures, Ghost Pictures, [longtime INXS manager] Chris [Murphy] and INXS is extremely exciting and I know that together we are going to tell this story like no one else can."
The film aims to uncover the secretive and mysterious side of the singer, who was found dead at the age of 37 in a Sydney hotel room in 1997. His death eventually ruled a suicide.
The film promises to share rare archive footage and intimate insights from friends, lovers, family and colleagues.
Interview subjects include ex-girlfriends Helena Christensen and Michele Bennett, who have never spoken publicly about the singer's death.
The film also includes interviews with Kylie Minogue, Kathy Lette, Bono, Garry Gary Beers, Andrew Farriss, Jon Farriss, Tim Farriss, Dennis Farriss, Tina Hutchence, Rhett Hutchence, Susie Hutchence, Ananda Braxton-Smith, Belinda Brewin, Chris Bailey, Nick Conroy, Gary Grant, Erin Hamilton, Dr Rachel Hertz, Nick Launay, Leslie Lewis, Lian Lunson, John Martin, Jenny Morris, Chris Murphy, Kirk Pengilly, Chris Thomas and Martha Troup.
A premiere date for Mystify: Michael Hutchence has yet to be set.
