Dirty Frigs are a Toronto-based four-piece who resurrect the spirit of Link Wray and other early axe-wielders to conjure the dark and distorted sounds of 1950s rock'n'roll. They recorded their self-titled EP in the confines of a church, and the resulting noise is a menacing attack. Dirty Frigs are weaving a new sound for a forthcoming release, but they have yet to unveil any other secrets about what's to come.
The band cast their eerie sounds over Artscape Gibraltar Point during the inaugural Camp Wavelength festival this summer, and we captured the performance for Exclaim! TV.
Absent of the amp-terrorizing distortion akin to most Dirty Frigs sets, this rendition of "Toss" seems to be a merciful departure from their usual chaos; however, when frontwoman Bria Salmena's haunting shrieks begin piercing through the rhythm, the performance becomes magic.
