The Details Return with The Original Mark EP

BY Alex HudsonPublished Oct 29, 2010

When Winnipeg rockers the Details released their debut album, Draw a Distance. Draw a Border, back in 2007, we said the band had "a fierce command of melody and an impressive ability to arrange engaging songs." It's been three years since then, and we've yet to see any new music from the group. On November 16, that will change with the release of The Original Mark EP.

The five-song collection is a primer for an upcoming, yet-to-be-titled LP. The first two tracks on the EP will reappear on the full-length. These were recorded by the Weakerthans' guitarist Stephen Carroll and Brandon Reid (the National). The other three songs are collected from previous recording sessions.

You can download the cinematic, slow-building title track on MySpace. Other tracks on the disc include the Christmas-themed "Strings and Ribbons," and "Uniform," which a press release describes as the band's "best impression of Leonard Cohen." There's also a remix of "Floor Plans" from Draw a Distance. Draw a Border.
