They don't call the label Hippos In Tanks for nothing. D'Eon spits tunes that are diverse motivators, referencing '90s R&B and world music. Dancing is a virtue, so at his Pop Montreal showcase at SAT, Chris d'Eon took advantage, pairing his pared-down instrumentals with big moves and his soothing vocal melodies, which came across as more warm and sincere live than in his recordings. The breakdown of his set went from airy to bold and dance-club worthy, and we wanted to get taken away to d'Eon's mind-world where he has rooibos tea parties with How to Dress Well and Grimes on one of Saturn's moons.
