Demiricous

Two (Poverty)

BY Max DeneauPublished Nov 19, 2007

What Demiricous are doing here is essentially a slightly modernised Slayer/Entombed hybrid and honestly, it’s pretty hard not to get behind that. Featuring an utterly blistering production from Hate Eternal’s Erik Rutan, each track is a white-knuckle assault that hits like a water gun squirting battery acid. There isn’t a weak moment to be found, and although the group’s influences are evident, they stay well clear of anything watered down or too recognisably derivative. The occasional rugged blast beat and abrupt tempo changes inject a touch of death metal to break up the thrash. But either way, it’s just one neck-snapping headbanger after the next. Christ Illusion, eat your heart out. The throne is hereby usurped.
