Toronto art-punks Deliluh are dropping their latest album, Oath of Intent, this Friday (May 3). Just before the album arrives, they've released a new music video for the album's title track.
In contrast to the band's calculated, guitar-driven attack, "Oath of Intent" is an improvised track featuring the band playing their secondary instruments — synths, violin and saxophone. It was recorded live off the floor of Toronto legion hall and venue Owls Club near the end of a session.
In keeping with the song's improvised origins, the band and collaborator Johnny de Courcy took a similar approach with the video, which de Courcy shot on high-contrast 16mm film during several trips to the Humber River and Lake Ontario.
"We decided to visit the mouth of the Humber River and Lake Ontario to document the spring thaw, and capture the movement of nature in its dramatic state of transition," says Deliluh's Kyle Knapp. Adds de Courcy, "In solid, liquid or gas states, water has no judgment. We can learn a lot from it."
Oath of Intent will be released on May 3 by Telephone Explosion and Tin Angel. Watch the video for the title track below.
