Much ballyhoo has been made about these Pittsburgh, PA kids who have concocted an unholy brew of first-gen death metal and emotional hardcore. How to describe Code Orange Kids' brutal live show? Think Converge on a steady diet of splatter flicks, or Fugazi meets The Walking Dead. Better yet, put on a Cannibal Corpse record and start writing in your diary. If you're still with us, then you may have enjoyed the uproarious cacophony of a band in which three-quarters of the members go shirtless — because pesky fabric wouldn't allow them to fully bust out their Scott Ian war-stomps, which sounded as if they had channeled live sound by Scott Burns. One of the bands' songs might have been their flagship jam, "Flowermouth (The Leech)." Or maybe it was a Bolt Thrower cover, we may never know. Either way, this was probably the heaviest set Sled Island festival-goers have experienced to date.
