As our hot pink summer in Barbieland continues, Charli XCX has shared a music video for her contribution to the Greta Gerwig film (the highest-grossing by a woman director) and its Mark Ronson-curated soundtrack, "Speed Drive." The video was directed by Ramez Silyan.
It appears that the album artwork situation for last year's CRASH hasn't put even the slightest damper on the pop star born Charlotte Aitchison's need for speed. Here, she vroom vrooms around in a pink Corvette convertible with influencer Devon Lee Carlson — only to be interrupted by a video call from fellow Barbie soundtrack contributor Sam Smith.
"Got the top down, tires on fire," she sings without a hint of hyperbole, as a flaming tire rolls across the parking lot like a tumbleweed while Carlson does donuts around the singer, who is clad in a pink baseball cap, oversized blazer, white bodysuit and black knee-high boots. Bitches know they can't catch her.
