Montreal soul-jazz collective Busty and the Bass have shared "Never Get Enough," a new single from their upcoming LP Forever Never Cares, featuring the talents of beloved Saskatoon neo-soul musician Katie Tupper.
"The words and vocal melodies came relatively quickly to me once I heard the track the guys had made," Tupper shared in a press release. "I wanted the lyrics to be classic and soulful and the idea of never getting enough of someone even if you could spend forever with them seemed right."
"Never Get Enough" ties in perfectly with the rest of the album and its overall theme of longing, attachment and embracing uncertainty, according to Busty and the Bass founding member Alistair Blu.
Of the track, Blu shared:
While her theme is referencing a lover whose eternal presence isn't enough, my lyrical themes relate to the broader concepts of eternity and forever-ness (hence where the album gets its name, Forever Never Cares) and the desire to let go of clinging and attachment.
Tupper's lucious, rich vocals and the collective's instrumentation complement each other to create a sultry, sensual track with a steady, honey-like groove.
While we wait for the LP to arrive, listen to "Never Get Enough" below, and revisit Busty and the Bass' tour dates for the latter half of 2023.
