Braids

Although Braids are originally from Calgary, they've made the big move to Montreal and are better suited to the latter's scene of similar-minded bands focused on digital experimentation and slow ambient builds. Drawing many local fans, the nerdy foursome filled the Ukrainian Federation with drawn-out polyphonic sounds and songs that seemed to run together, leaving you feeling like you were floating a couple inches above your seat. Braids may become especially well-known for their lyrics, which have the potential to sashay from vulnerable to cheeky. If the audience gave any indication about how the show went, this one hit the spot, as Braids earned a standing ovation.
