Black Label Society

Skullage

BY Keith CarmanPublished May 7, 2009

Black Label Society/Ozzy Osbourne guitarist Zakk Wylde has never been one to pull a punch. From calling other bands out on the carpet for questionable music to occasionally having to admit his follies, he shoots from the hip and it's always a bull's-eye. That's why even his greatest detractors are hard-pressed to argue that the Skullage collection isn't a wonderful accent to his storied career and top-notch output. Even if you don't care for his predictable, obvious hard rock, watching this set is akin to seeing Ted Nugent's equally raucous understudy effectively losing his shit. Comprised of a "best of" CD featuring previously released acoustic and live tracks, as well as a DVD with strong live footage, music videos, interviews and, most unusually, acoustic jams and a tour of his personal life, which reveals, yes, a doll collection, Skullage is a complete, candid and sincere peek at the man behind bona fide biker rock.
