Birds of Bellwoods

"Harvest Moon" (Neil Young cover) on Exclaim! TV

Having recorded their folksy Livewires EP straight off the living room floor, Birds of Bellwoods' distinct rusticity comes from playing rootsy instruments like the guitar, mandolin, banjo and upright bass, which is further enriched by vocal harmonies.

During Canadian Music Week, we caught up with the Toronto quartet to film another session of Exclaim! TV, where they played a rendition of Neil Young's "Harvest Moon" at Toronto's Kops Records.

From the start, it's evident that the band have transformed the classic song into their own, by playing their acoustics delicately with a pop of twinkling banjo. In contrast to Young's calming vocals, Stevie Joffe's passionate singing style seals the gripping performance.
