Having taken us out to nature with a performance video, Toronto folkies Birds of Bellwoods have now released their Livewires EP, which can be streamed in full.
The band recorded the five songs live off the living-room floor on September 24 of this year. They capture a rustic sound using acoustic guitar, mandolin, banjo and upright bass, with all four members contributing to the rich harmonies. There's no percussion, but the band still manage to kick up a little dust on the speedy opener "Beast Comes Calling," while "Train Song" uses muted strumming to rhythmic effect.
Hear it all below.
The band will perform at Montreal's Piccolo Rialto this Friday (December 5) with Motel Raphaël.
