Aphex Twin Starts Another Mysterious Countdown

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Jun 5, 2017

Aphex Twin recently teased a livestream of his headlining performance at Field Day with a cryptic countdown on his website, and now the always-mysterious electronic artist has unveiled another ticking clock.

This time, the countdown ends on July 6, but what sort of announcement will ensue is still anyone's guess.

In conjunction with his aforementioned Field Day set on Saturday (June 3), Aphex Twin was selling a totally unannounced 12-inch single. The record was made available exclusively to festivalgoers, arriving in a rather nondescript blank, greenish-yellow sleeve. Sadly but unsurprisingly, the vinyl has already sold out and is being hocked on eBay — at an exorbitant extra cost.

Stay tuned for more details on the latest mystery countdown as they become available.

Aphex Twin's last full-length, Syro, was released in 2014. He followed that up with an EP titled Computer Controlled Acoustic Instruments Pt2 in 2015 and the Cheetah EP last year.
