An Entire Baseball Stadium Singing Creed Took the Texas Rangers Higher

The track is apparently a locker room favourite

Last night (October 10), the Texas Rangers beat the Baltimore Orioles to advance to the ALCS, and they may have a certain biblical band to thank. The team was able to beat their opponents 7–1 after nearly every fan at Globe Life Field belted out Creed's 1999 hit, "Higher."

Pitcher Andrew Heaney put it out into the universe last week that Rangers fans singing "Higher" at an upcoming game would hype the team up. Apparently, the butt-rockers have become a Rangers locker room staple — and because Creed fans are God's favourite, the team was undefeated in the MLB playoffs and, after last night, swept their series against the Orioles.

Video footage of the game shows the field's jumbotron blaring "Higher" while displaying the lyrics on-screen, as if the track is about to become the next "Take Me Out to the Ballgame." Most people in attendance chanted the song, making Heaney's dreams come true in more than one way.

Maybe it's time we invite the Texas Rangers to Exclaim! staff karaoke, where "With Arms Wide Open" is considered a classic — and a certain Online Editor has bandleader Scott Stapp's quiver down pat. If they'd rather not be in a room full of cringecore music nerds to hear Creed, maybe the team can go to the Summer of '99 Cruise, where the band is set to reunite.
