Happy Pride! Taika Waititi's fan-favourite gay pirate series Our Flag Means Death is officially coming back for Season 2.

HBO Max announced the good news yesterday (June 1), timing the long-awaited announcement to the first day of Pride Month.

"We felt the show was special while we were making it, but fans' open-armed embrace of the inhabitants of the Revenge makes heading into a second season all the more sweet," series creator David Jenkins said in a statement.

Though it remains unclear when the second instalment of the romantic-comedy-at-sea will set sails, it's safe to assume that the love between Waititi's Blackbeard and Rhys Darby's Stede is bound flourish a little more onscreen.

Our Flag Means Death also stars Joel Fry, Samson Kayo, Nathan Foad, Matthew Maher, Kristian Nairn, Vico Ortiz, Samba Schutte, Rory Kinnear, Claudia O'Doherty, Nat Faxon and more, with plenty of surprise cameos from the likes of Nick Kroll, Kristen Schaal, Fred Armisen and Will Arnett, among others.
