'Sonic the Hedgehog' Is Being Delayed Until 2020 So He Can Undergo Dental Surgery

The release of the Sonic the Hedgehog film has just been delayed — and it's so the speedy blue videogame character can get some much-needed dental surgery.

As fans all know, there has been some serious backlash over the film's CGI hybrid version of Sonic, with many blasting the character for his creepily human teeth. It got so bad, in fact, that director Jeff Fowler had promised to fix the character before the movie's release, but it turns out that comes at a cost.

This morning, Fowler tweeted that Paramount has moved the Sonic the Hedgehog release date from November 8 to February 14. So yes, this means that the film will now not arrive until 2020. On the plus side, it's great to see Fowler following through on his promise. ICYMI, you can watch the trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog down below and see those film-delaying teeth for yourself.
