Chloé Zhao won the Best Director Oscar for her work directing Nomadland. The film also won Best Picture, and Frances McDormand won for Best Actress. Anthony Hopkins, meanwhile, took home Best Actor for his work in The Father.
Chloé Zhao was nominated alongside Promising Young Woman's Emerald Fennell, marking the first time in history that two women have been named in the category. Fennell won for Best Original Screenplay.
Daniel Kaluuya took home the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Judas and the Black Messiah. In his acceptance speech, he thanked his parents for having sex. Yuh-Jung Youn won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress in Minari, becoming the first Korean to ever do so.
In the music categories, Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross won the Oscar for Best Original Score for Soul, while H.E.R. won Best Original Song.
