Director Chloé Zhao is at last getting the recognition she deserves thanks to her incredible Nomadland film, and now she's officially announced her next feature. Believe it or not, Zhao will be tackling the classic Universal monster flick Dracula — but with a twist.

In very Zhao fashion, the director will be presenting the classic bloodsucking tale as a Western — though one that's said to be of a futuristic sci-fi nature.

"I've always been fascinated by vampires and the concept of the Other they embody," Zhao said in a statement. "I'm very excited to work with Donna [Langley], Peter [Levinsohn] and the team at Universal to reimagine such a beloved character."

Zhao will write, direct and produce through her production company, Highwayman.

Universal Pictures president Peter Cramer added, "Chloé's singular lens shines a light on stories of the overlooked and misunderstood. We are thrilled to be working with her as she reimagines one of the most iconic outsider characters ever created."

As of yet, Zhao's take on Dracula has yet to receive any sort of release date. But the film will arrive after her next movie, the Marvel project The Eternals, which is slated to arrive on November 5.

As previously reported, Zhao's Nomadland was nominated for multiple Golden Globe Awards, including best motion picture (drama), best screenplay and best director.
