Romance is in the air this month, and you best believe there are plenty of new shows and films landing on Prime Video which you're sure to love.
Leading off February is new Amazon Original series Mr. & Mrs. Smith. Based on the 2005 film, the series stars Donald Glover and Maya Erskine as strangers working for a mysterious spy agency — a job requiring them to assume new identities in an arranged marriage as Mr. & Mrs. John and Jane Smith.
A life of high-risk missions and relationship milestones begs the question: what's riskier, espionage or marriage? In an 8/10 review of the series, Exclaim! film editor Rachel Ho wrote that the new iteration of Mr. & Mrs. Smith is marked by "an intelligence (emotional and otherwise) the 2005 film never offered."
Ahead of the hardware being handed out at the Academy Awards next month, Prime Video is giving you a chance to catch up on Oscar-nominated titles. Christopher Nolan-directed blockbuster Oppenheimer arrives on the service February 16, following American scientist J. Robert Oppenheimer's role in the development of the atomic bomb, while the heartwarming holiday tale of The Holdovers (February 24) stars Golden Globe winners Paul Giamatti and Da'Vine Joy Randolph — the latter of whom is up for Best Supporting Actress following her performance in the film.
Prime Video is also loading up on rom com films and series for all your Valentine's Day viewing. Amazon Original film Upgraded (February 9) stars Camila Mendes and Marisa Tomei, while Italian rom-com Pensati Sexy takes a tale of being 30, flirty and thriving to new heights on the wings of a guardian angel played by an IRL porn star.
If you haven't discovered or revisited the comedic genius of Canadian legends Kids in the Hall, now is the time — the first five seasons of material from the troupe will be leaving Prime Video in February, along with favourite flicks old and new including Shrek and Shrek 2, Licorice Pizza, 10 Cloverfield Lane, American Gangster and Valley Girl.
