As we feared back in MarchCurb Your Enthusiasm will end with its 12th season, arriving nearly 25 years after it first graced the small screen back in 2000.

The show's creator and star Larry David made it official in a statement shared by The Hollywood Reporter today.

"As Curb comes to an end, I will now have the opportunity to finally shed this 'Larry David' persona and become the person God intended me to be — the thoughtful, kind, caring, considerate human being I was until I got derailed by portraying this malignant character," he wrote. "And so 'Larry David,' I bid you farewell. Your misanthropy will not be missed. And for those of you who would like to get in touch with me, you can reach me at Doctors Without Borders."

Although David's decision seems pretty concrete, fans are all too aware of his reputation as a prankster

"We've heard 'the final season' before. He'll be back," one commenter wrote on Instagram, to hundreds of likes.

Whether it's a farewell tour or not, Curb's 10-episode 12th season is due to premiere February 4 on HBO and its streaming counterpart Max. Check out the official poster below.
