The Beyhive is buzzing

The Oscar nominations were announced this morning, and in addition to the lack of female directors up for awards, a certain Beyoncé was missing from the list of Best Original Song nominees.

After garnering a nod at the Golden Globes for her song "Spirit" from The Lion King, many were expecting Bey to gain the Oscar nod as well. She was even shortlisted for the Oscars. Unfortunately, her name was left off the list of nominees this morning.

Still in the running for Best Original Song are "I Can't Let You Throw Yourself Away" (Randy Newman, Toy Story 4), "I'm Gonna Love Me Again" (Elton John, Rocketman), "I'm Standing With You" (Diane Warren, Breakthrough), "Into the Unknown" (Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, Frozen 2), and "Stand Up" (Joshuah Brian Campbell and Cynthia Erivo, Harriet).

"I'm Gonna Love Me Again," "Into the Unknown" and "Stand Up" were all also nominated for Golden Globes, with Elton John's song ultimately taking home the trophy.
