Anna from 'The O.C.' Is Running for Mayor

As a candidate in Sedona, AZ, her platform is pro-police and anti-5G

Samaire Armstrong appeared on '00s teen soap The O.C. as Anna Stern, the cool alt girl who dates Adam Brody's Seth Cohen, but these days she's a right-wing agitator who loves Donald Trump and called Black Lives Matter a "terrorist organization." Now, perhaps inevitably, she's running for mayor of Sedona, AZ.

Armstrong announced her candidacy back in March for the election, which takes place August 2 (with early voting beginning today, July 6). Her platform is mostly based around anti-tourism and keeping Sedona a small town, as well as a pledge "to fully support the police department." Her mayoral bio includes the usual talking points of hating the mainstream media and decrying "cancel culture."

In her initial announcement that she is running for mayor, she called 5G towers one of "many challenges" facing Sedona — perhaps a reference to the various conspiracy theories surrounding 5G telecommunications. Armstrong has also expressed anti-vax and anti-mask views on many occasions.

She's a conservative who doesn't appear to have any party affiliation. Her campaign video is below, and sadly does not include the phrase "Welcome to the AZ! This is how it's done in Arizona."

Sedona is in central Arizona and, as of 2020, had a population of a little under 10,000. Armstrong spent her teen years growing up there. She moved back to the town in 2021. She has no apparent political experience.

In addition to The O.C., Armstrong had roles in Entourage and Dirty Sexy Money, and made cameos in The X-FilesER, and Freaks and Geeks.
