Adam Sandler's 'The Ridiculous 6' Is Netflix's Most Popular Movie Ever

Sometimes, without realizing it, we create comfortable bubbles where all of our information comes from a feedback loop of likeminded individuals. We curate our social media so that those with similar tastes and opinions show up in our feeds, and that starts to become our reality. Unfortunately, friends, it's time for a wakeup call: Adam Sandler is not actually a washed-up hack, but instead the world's most famous comedic actor.

The veteran goofball continues to breeze through life in XXXL shiny gym shorts and sell movies for millions of dollars by simply doing that "shabadoo" voice, and he did it once again late last year with The Ridiculous 6 for Netflix. Now brace yourself for this little tidbit: The Ridiculous 6 is now the most-watched Netflix movie ever.

Despite its designation as an extremely racist and culturally insensitive production (which Sandler himself called "pro-Indian"), not to mention its astonishing zero per cent rating on Rotten Tomatoes, the movie has been viewed more times than any other movie on the streaming service. That includes both Netflix originals and old movies. To borrow rhetoric from Sandler himself, it's enough to make you say "fuck me in the goat ass."

As The Verge reports, Netflix's chief content officer Ted Sarandos dropped the news on the crowd at the company's CES 2016 keynote address. While Netflix is notoriously secretive about their viewing numbers, Sarandos admitted that Sandler's latest is their biggest hit.

"The Ridiculous 6, by way of example, in the first 30 days on Netflix it's been the most-watched movie in the history of Netflix," he said. "It's also enjoyed a spot at #1 in every territory we operate in, and in many of them it's still #1."

In other words, Adam Sandler is likely going to be dozing his way through many Netflix movies to come. The war on taste is over, and Adam Sandler won.
