Despite initial bombast, Zoobombs' Velvet Underground gig got mired in a laissez faire crowd and the inherent problems of extended jams. Like plants need water and Popeye needs spinach, fuzz-jam bands need tight confines and ample sonic space. Unfortunately for the Japanese provocateurs, Velvet only has the former. Blasting out of the gate, the combo's set flagged in the middle as extended jam sessions tried the reticent crowd's patience. Still, singer Don Matsuo's unbridled brio kept the gig moving and a spirited call/answer finale revived the slumping set.
