While they remain hard at work locking in a lineup for POP Montreal's 2020 edition, festival organizers have now shared a special surprise in the form of a new virtual event.

POP Montreal will present virtual fest Le Funhouse from June 5 through 7, inviting digital denizens to come together inside a virtual Rialto Theatre for concerts, contemporary art, films, panel discussions, workshops and a pair of popular online clubs.

Le Funhouse gives audiences a behind-the-scenes look at POP Montreal's musical programming, in addition to its five segments: Art POP, Fashion POP, Film POP, Puces POP, and POP Symposium.

You can find the complete itinerary below.

When it comes to live music, the virtual Rialto complex will play host to Leif Vollebekk on the main stage, Lydia Képinski from her virtual studio and J-rock fusionists TEKE::TEKE on the Ursa stage, on top of sets from P'tit Belliveau, Land of Talk's Elizabeth Powell and Camille Delean.

For those looking to dance, Club Quarantine will feature Suzi Analogue alongside TiKA and Hua Li 化力, following an evening from Montreal's Transmission featuring DJ Gayance with Samito and Boogieman.

Film POP programming includes a virtual workshop with film composer Mark Korven (The Witch, The Lighthouse), and a screening of Night of the Living Dead featuring a live-stream performance of an original score from members of Yamantaka // Sonic Titan. The POP Symposium room, meanwhile, will offer beat-making workshops, discussions on virtual performances and black identity in music creation, and an interview with experimental techno duo Orphx.

Le Funhouse's digital digs also house Art POP's multimedia gallery, featuring work from young artists at UQAM, poetry classes and a drag makeup workshop. A virtual Puces POP artisanal market will have patches and accessories from La Pimbêche, illustrated posters by Stephanie Cheng, stationery and household objects from Merci Bonsoir, and virtual showrooms of fashion designers Charline Bataille, Olivia Bretheau and Mort de Joie.

Following its inaugural weekend, the entire Le Funhouse website will be available to browse, featuring recordings of all live performances, workshops and events. Further festival information can be found through POP Montreal's official website.
